About the Journal
Jurnal Kimia Unand (J. Kim. Unand) has been registered with the number ISSN: 3026-2933 (online) and ISSN: 2303-3401 (print). Jurnal Kimia Unand is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Andalas, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. This journal is devoted to publishing original contributions on chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, and theoretical and experimental studies. Among the research areas of interest are inorganic and organic, especially in developing materials with novel and/or valuable properties.
Initially, J. Kim. Unand published articles in 2012 (Volume 1. Number 1. November 2012) with a printed ISSN (2303-3401). This journal publishes 4 issues in 1 year and does not yet have an online journal system (OJS) in the publishing process. This journal is presented to publish articles written by undergraduate students from the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Andalas University, as one of the graduation requirements. All journal files are available at the following link https://kimia.fmipa.unand.ac.id/penelitian-pengabdian/jurnal-kimia. In 2022, J. Kim. Unand initiated using OJS with an online ISSN, and the publishing frequency is two yearly issues, in May and October.
The criteria of the submitted article cover the following types of articles:
- Communications.
- Research articles.
- Review articles (Based on the Editor's Invitation).

- Materials synthesis and characterization
- Synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds
- Theoretical and computational chemistry
- Fabrication, development, and validation of analytical methods
